After a successful ISO audit in mid-June, we received our official and formal updated ISO certificate today (here it is, if you want to see) . ISO audits have become somewhat routine over the past decade, mostly due to the procedures outlined in our ISO manual becoming routine, second-nature. But this one was a bit different as this certification marks our movement from the 2008 standard to the 2015 standard.
Those that have made the jump know it’s a big deal. The new standard gets rid of some things and adds some others. The new standard also takes a different approach to some concepts that had been fairly established. For example, instead preventive action, it’s now more focused on risk management.
Even more impressive is we passed the audit with flying colors – approved with no follow-up necessary.
Change can always bring with it some headaches, but being open and even accepting of change is part of what has helped IMEC continue to grow and prosper. The manufacturing world has changed quite a bit since IMEC was first started 36 years ago. And without changing every and now and then, we would have been left in the dust.
So chalk up another successful change, or evolution for us. We’re now ISO 9001:2015 certified! (The next change will be going through all of our signs, website, brochures, etc and changing ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015…)
